Weekend Warriors!

This weekend was the first start to our new front yard.  We spent all day outside Saturday and Sunday.  Here are the accomplishments:

The fence is getting put up between us and the neighbors truck yard.  Yay!             Kanosh is basically sandy soil and rocks.  That's what keeps us walking above ground.  I think we have more rocks than anyone in Kanosh....but that's what everyone else says about their lots, too.

We have 3 giant, beautiful spruce trees in our yard.  We have done nothing with them since we moved in 17 years ago.  I know they have been around at least the past 30 years.  So, for peace of mind, I started after the dead branches with a chainsaw trimmer.   I LOVE this thing!

Gloves, glasses and hardhat.  I had a ball!  Hey, I found one too.  He looks happy to be discovered.

After clearing it all out, then came clearing the deadfall pine cones and pine needles, bird nest, etc.   I am NOT KIDDING when it say it was more than ankle deep when you got down to it.

We hauled it off about 10 bucket loads of dead stuff  in the tractor from this tree alone.

Next came the Blue Spruce.  This is not unlike the other, just more prickly and messy.

This is what it looked like after the dead branches and BEFORE the raking.

and the ever popular AFTER photo from the first tree.   I am pitching a tent and camping here.

Near miss with the pitchfork.  I heard the words, "Careful where you step!", just as I took the step and met the middle of two pitchfork tines head on.   Glad my ankle isn't any wider.

Sock casualty.

I really worked hard.  See, there's even a blister to prove it...

... and dirt and branches in my hair.

The hot tub was well deserved tonight.
